Impossible Rescue - Overview

Impossible Rescue is a fast-paced, isometric shooter with a strong narrative element. Players take control of Danielle and – accompanied by her sarcastic AI drone, Shadow – delve into a dangerous Martian facility with the aim of rescuing an AI stolen from Earth.

The core gameplay loop sees players exploring each level to find three Shadow Terminals. Having found all three, they can unlock the final area of the level and progress to the next. As they explore, they’ll encounter automated Martian defences. In early levels these are security drones that can either be avoided or engaged in combat; in later levels, they’ll face more deadly robotic guardians in unavoidable encounters.

As the game progresses, players gain access to a host of weapons and tools they can use against their enemies. These include a repeating Blaster, a devastating Particle Beam, a stun-inducing Electro-Caster, and a projectile-blocking Shield.

Several of these weapons are also used in puzzle solving. As the player explores, they’ll find environmental laser hazards that can either be dodged through or blocked with their Shield. They’ll also come across forcefields that can only be deactivated by shooting the right panel with the right weapon.

Impossible Rescue was made by a team of four people. It features an introductory narrative piece and four levels.
